A 9 hole round is the minimum but if you play 18, that will be recorded as two 9s
* The number over net par, the minimum number of weeks, and the number of rounds that will be counted per week can be changed
Dcup is a friendly season long golf competition invented at Sand Point Country club. The goal is get a lot of golfers out regularly during the summer with a format that is casual and fun. The tallying of the results got cumbersome as more players started playing. It was originally done in spreadsheets and a player could only play from the tees they choose at the beginning of the season and only on the front side since it was too much trouble to look up their handicap for all the different tees/sides. Also, handicaps weren't updated very often. This app records the rounds, calculates the net score using a weekly index for the player, and rolls up the season long results. GHIN has apis (ways for applications to talk to each other programmatically) and I've begged but they won't give me access. You need to have an application that supports 1000s of users before they will. So to get indices, I have to manually go in every week and copy the contents of the 'Golfer Lookup' page and input it into this app. It takes less than 30 seconds.
Lisa Roney was a software engineer for 30 years and wrote this web application and iphone app for fun but also to eliminate the spreadsheets and hand tallying of scores that made it very complicated. Not to mention how hard it was to decipher the golf cards! Now that this project is done she needs more! So if you have a need for custom software please contact Lisa.
